Obesity is associated with many medical complications that can reduce a person's quality of life and in some cases shorten a person's life.
• Skin problems, including inflammation and infection in skin folds (such as the armpits and the underside of the breasts or belly)
• Stress urinary incontinence
• Surgical and post-surgical risks, including wound infection, blood clots in the deep veins, pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs), and postoperative pneumonia
