Abstract

Abstract

Statement of the Problem: Obesity becomes pandemic worldwide, and an enormous burden for our society, healthily and economically. Lots of progress has been made but its management remains unsatisfied. Stress increases cortisol secretion, and thus plays a critical role in its pathogenesis. Reducing stress may be a key point for obesity management. Positive attitude promotes health and reduces stress, therefore, might be very important in managing obesity. Studies in this pipeline are very limited.

Methodology & Theoretical Orientation: In this study, I would adapt positive attitude practice in managing obesity. Positive attitude practice includes confidence, gratitude, adaptation, love, generosity, forgiveness, courage, compassion, health, connection, and meaningfulness. Stress will be evaluated with urine cortisol level and questionnaire. Groups and comparisons will be performed with/without, before/after, sub-layers of positive attitude practice with SAS.

Expected Findings: Positive attitude facilitates weight loss through promoting health and reducing stress, with significant changes for all 11 practice points, even with different other interventions. Different levels of changes may present, as every individual is unique and personalized medicine and preference should be adapted.

Conclusion & Significance: Positive attitude facilitate obesity management, through promoting health and reducing stress. It will open a unique door for weight loss intervention. Different positive attitude shall be adapted for different individuals for personalized medicine and precision medicine.
